Even As Snowflakes Fell…

Bare branches revealed tree birds and others busy at work even as snowflakes began to flurry around them. (ABOVE) a Red-bellied Woodpecker seeks insects hiding in the cracks of tree bark.

In the following pictures, respectively, a squirrel accepts a treat left on the ground by apartment residents; a Canada goose searches for friends near the riverbank; two Starlings sing a tune while retrieving tree berries; and a female Cardinal checks out future Spring nesting possibilities among thick branches.
