Coffee Cup Series

Rudolph-the-Red-nosed-Reindeer failed to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to another NBA championship, and the Golden State Warriors, via the new king, Kevin Durant, sent a message that pricked like fork tines. They said emphatically through their dominant play to the title, “We’ll be here awhile.”

Rudolph ultimately agreed, stating he’d probably be sitting down to figure things out before the next title run begins.

Drinking from Rudolph’s coffee cup I call “Humble” for now…

This Man Who Would Be King…

What will he say, or proclaim to be true, tonight? President Trump addresses Congress on live TV this evening, just past having skipped the White House dinner for the nation’s press corps.

The man who would be King of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, is rarely referred to as President Trump by those outside government circles who have something about him to express. This is a phenomena. And while everyone who didn’t vote for him keeps taking pop shots, he himself keeps bashing the country’s press as liars, as never printing the real story, a second phenomena of this man’s Presidency.

It is our great Constitution, which has ensured our freedoms for over two centuries, that lies in the middle of the controversy over this Presidency. Mr. Trump is convinced, apparently, that the US government can be run by executive orders. He signs executive orders to set policy, without US Congressional approval, a direct contradiction to US Constitutional law. When judges overturn, or abolish, such executive orders as unconstitutional, the President writes more executive orders to overturn his judges.

Yet, Mr. Trump claims any judge he appoints will gain that status most importantly because that judge is known to and continues to be willing to first of all uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Keeping an open mind is paramount to keeping our freedoms, but the scales are tipping in the direction of kingship, a one-man show. Let us listen carefully tonight and be vigilant!
